Jim died today or yesterday I don't know how yet but I just found out. I'm really sad I didn't know him well but he was a friend of my friends parents and also my friend. We would play Battlefield 1942, D&D and Hackmaster with my friend and his family. He was a really nice guy and had the best magic deck ever. He was always very generous and lent my friends family his computer once for months. He had worked at the Acme down the street until about 6 months ago when he moved to Pittsburgh. Whenever I went to the Acme I would always go to his register and we would talk about computers and games. I don't know how old he was but he was young and I'm really sad that such a nice person died and so randomly.

P.S. I know I haven't posted for awhile but I have no readers and I understand CSS now which was my main goal of making a blog in the first place.

Finally, Google buys YouTube

Well this past weekend I just see rumors flying back and forth across the internet confirming and denying that Google was going to buy YouTube. Well it's finally happened, Google bought YouTube out in $1.6 billion worth of shares. Now I suppose this is good, besides it being one step closer to Google becoming an evil online monopoly, because this will spread content faster to a wider audience now that the two sites will be working together. Also YouTube and Google video will still be run separately.

Yeah, quite an amazing spectacle did a spectasize last night with my friends Aaron Marks, Ben Skamla, my father, and his friend AJ. When we got there the Paul Green school of rock was playing and well they never disappoint. For those of you who don't know about the Paul Green school of rock they are a local music school fro teenage musicians and they often open for various concerts in the area and they always do a VERY good job. You can check them out here. Well after that we waited an hour for That One Guy to open. He came out and did his thing which was pretty indescribable... He plays this thing called the Magic Pipe and he also palys a boot. Like i thing his intruments are all proximity based and very similar to theramin's but I'm not sure. I was up almost in the front and I noticed that The Magic Pipe is held together with duct-tape. Yeah.

Ok. So now That One Guy is done but he doesnt take his Magic Pipe with him when he leaves the stage. 20 minutes later he walks on stage again. At this point I was thinking "This is gonna be really fucked up" becasue I knew that Buckethead, Pinchface, and that one guy where all going to be playing on the same stage at once. So yeah Buckethead started and it was great. When I see him live I can never follow what song he is playing but its all good anyway. (oh yeah this was my second time seing Buckethead)

So on to the second set I guess it was around midnight when the second set started. At intermission I had purchased an official Buckethead T-Shirt and before that was given a big KFC bucket from some random dude in the audience. Well the second set was just a freaky as the first and now I was starting to look like the ultimate Buckethead fan-boy. GIFT TIME!!!
Buckethead always gives out gifts to his loyal fans towards the end of the second set and this time I decided I would give him a present. So I did I brought him a toy car. When he was giving out his gifts I handed him the car which he took and handed me THE BIG TOY! He handed me the bigest toy he was holding a Rock&Learn Guitar. Now I looked really cool...

Everquest 2 and World of WarCraft

Well Hell froze over last week so I quit Everquest 2 and went to WoW. I ONLY DID IT BECAUSE EVERYONE I KNEW WHO PLAYED EQ2 SWITCHED TO WOW AND I HAD NOONE TO PLAY WITH ANYMORE. But I thought I would make the change without looking back but I didnt. Now WoW is just dandy but I'm so tempted to log onto my eq2 account and just walk around. What's weird is that I don't really want to do anything in particular in eq2 I just want to walk around. As a game I have alot of memories with eq2 (yes I develope memories with games SO WHAT) I want to walk through Freeport or go back to Rivervale and I want to listen to all the music and stuff again. I probably want to do this becasue I have been playing eq2 since launch almost and I stopped so abruptly. Well to get it out of my system I am going to make a Flickr gallery with all of my eq2 screen shots that I have taken in the past year and a half.

So far I like the game alot there are alot of things in it that eq2 lacks but soemthings that eq2 does better. Now I'm a bad writter I'm more of a "List Maker" (see above ie. my characters descriptions and below my Final Fantasy Tactics "Review")
so I don't think I'm going to write of comparisons (and I am very lazy). But like WoW's world is ALOT bigger but there are alot less class/race combinations. Also becasue the graphics are alot less demanding there is ALOT less lag.

I was thinking about my template and how I sort of just put it together really fast over about 3 days, and it really doesn't have much of a theme/colour scheme, so I'm thinking about redoing it and giving it more of a modern website look as in like the sleek bubbly look with diagonal strips and arrows oh boy. Yeah, I'm putting a poll thing on the side.

Also on another site idea. To prevent off topic comments on posts I'm going to make a comment button type thing to my side-bar which will send a comment to my first post or a blank post I will make that is only for miscellaneous comments.

Les Claypool at the Electric Factory

Yes I saw Les Claypool for my second time at the Electric Factory last night. The last time I saw him was 10/20/05 at the Electric Factory, this is actually pretty interesting because if you purchase Of Whales and Woe from iTunes the you get bonus track of him playing "D's Diner" at that same show. So anyway onto the show...

I researched the opening band The Coup on Wikipedia and YouTube to see if I would like them and I'll just say the internet did not do them any justice. I wasn't looking forward to seeing them after watching some videos on YouTube but Youtube failed me. They were actually pretty good, like good enough that I would consider torrenting one on of their albums (maybe even buy one). So the Coup are kindof a rap/funk/rock/alt.rock band and are pretty good if you like that stuff, some parts kindof reminded me of Rage Against the Machine. Anyway lets talk about Claypool...

He just walked on stage and broke into "One Better" from Of Whales and Woe and what was cool is that this album came out a little over a month ago and that everyone was singing the words. After this he said something and played "Makalaster" from Purple Onion which everyone sang and Heeyaa's to; it was epic. I don't remember the whole setlist but these are the songs I remember. (in somewhat chronological order but it gets blurry after "Makalaster")

After "Makalaster" I proceeded to the pit but went through it so I was only 5 or so feet away from the master bass-playing colonel himself. The crowd wasn't like too wild but it was drunk wild the pit was good but a lot of people passed out and stuff, also there was a lot of crowd surfing.

Well that's about it and I look forward to seeing him again soon.

Another Klassic Review of a Game Already Beaten Millions of Times.

Well I had been playing this for about a month, it was my third time trying to play through the whole thing in the past three years. This time I did it, in a approximatly 53 hours and I enjoyed every hour of it. The plot was as good as expected in any Final Fantasy game and they graphics were nice little mid 90's sprites which I have always been quite partial towards. I was a level 54 squire at the end of the game and killed Altima in two hits. The first hit was with a Stasis sword from Orlandu hitting somewhere around 700-800 damage then an Attack from me at around 990-1100 damage (with ragnarok equipped straight and used scream three times)

There was one disappointment with the ending for me and that was that I couldn't continue to play my data and finish the cloud subquest like I had originally planned to do. This really made me upset because I could see sooooooooooooo much post final boss play value in the game with all the treasure hunting and discovery levels. I heard someone talking about a ten level dungeon after the final boss but all I got was the credits, a nice FMV sequence and a return to the title screen. If anyone knows how I can continue to play and go to the 10 level dungeon and stuff please tell me.

yes I just recently got the new Les Claypool CD (as in I finished torrenting it about 20 minutes ago) and I haven't finished listening to it yet but it's already worth the money or time. It lives up to all the expectations I had and adds anotheramazing release to his flawless discography.

A good campaign

Well, I often play RPG's with my friends and I just finished running a great little dungeon I wrote about 6 months ago. The first time I ran it it was for 3rd edition AD&D and spec'd for level 1 characters this time it was spec'd for 2nd Edition AD&D with a level 3 chaotic evil dark elf priest, a level 1 neutral evil human druid, and a level 1 chaotic good dwarf rouge. After adapting this for 2nd edition and the party I was playing with we began. I will upload the map accompanied with an adventure module in a few days. The first time I ran it for 3rd edition with a level 1 human mage and a level 1 human fighter it lasted about 3 hours this time it lasted about 30 minutes more but I think it was more fun because I had more of a level range to work with. It's a fun dungeon to run because it's very big and a lot of room for traps and DM improvisation. I will upload as soon as possible.

Computy Died again

my computer in my bedroom named Computy died... again last time the power supply got fried, this time its either the hard drive, the motherboard, the graphics card, or maybe even the power supply but probably one of the earlier three. I haven't been able to figure out which thing is brokedn but when I turn my computer on the monitor just says no signal. also Ithe little beep the speaker connected to the mother makes when I turn my computer on isnt beepingl and finally when I listen to my harddrive it doesnt sound wuite right. I am too lazy to fix this. also my friend took mback final fantasy tactics which I was goign to write about when I finished it after he lent it to me ovber 3 years ago, and I was right in the middle of it and Im a little agitated.

I added a little flash based media player to the bottom of the page, ill update it every now and then and puts some tracks that I have really been diggin' on it. DONT WORRY it doesnt auto play, I hate it when peopel auto play media when i enter a webpage, I know most of you probably don't want to listen to my music that's why it's optional.

I reset to a default template because I accidentally replaced some code that prevented my blog form updating properly, so it will be this default tempalte for a few days (maybe a week)

UPDATE the template is almost fiexed just a few more tweaks and it'll beback to how it was before.

UPDATE 2 everything is back on track as far as the tempalte goes, now ill just tweak it little by little over time just to keep it looking and working as best as I can get it to.

Well this should look noticibly different than it did a few hours ago i complete revamped the template with the limited CSS skills I have, fortunantly I know HTML pretty well so I can manage. Besides a few more littel tweaks to the format it's done for now. I did all the grpahics on the side bar and the stuff in the center i got from WSGdesigns.com My guild in Eq2's Website uses the same Eq2 template and I wanted to see how it would look if I tried to apply it. You can see it professionally done at Storms of Vengeance.

Music and such

Well, right now this blog looks like shit but im working on it (one of the reasons i made it was to improve my skills with CSS)
Anyway...
I am almost always listening to music and so I figure i'll talk about some of the albums that I have really been diggin' lately

First off is dub housing by Pere Ubu, this is the third album I torrented (what do you think I have money) by them, it is also their thrid ever release. Pere Ubu spawned off of Rocket from the Tombs and shows many proto punk influences. Most of their stuff is extremely experimental and Dub Housing is even more (imho) than The Modern Dance and New Picnic Time (the other albums I own).

Tales form Topographic Oceans by Yes is absolutly insane, it is mostly instrumental and all of the songs are just shy of or more than 20 minutes long. There are 4 songs and every single one of them is amazing. This is an album you can put on and let the whole thing jsut play through, you could easily let it play through a second time too. All the tracks seem to blend into eachother and take your mind somewhere else.

I have been unable to play Everquest 2 of late which is how I spend about 50% of all my time on the computer (so on a school day i usually play at least an hour or more each day)
but anyway, I was digging through my old PSone games and I came across Final Fantasy VII which is one of my favorite games of all time. unfortunantly disc 1 was missing. I looked through more of my games and pulled out Metal Gear: Solid. I hadn't played this for over 3 years i would think and i dont belive i ever even finished it. I put it in and started playing, it was alittle hard to get used to (especially since i kept comparing it to the Splinter Cell series and it was made in 1998) but i got hooked. Still to this day i rarely see games with such a rich plot. The game almost plays like a movie at times. It also used some very innovative techniques with interacting with the player and using the Dual Shock controller.

I finished the game in two days with a total playtime of 13:13:31 (hours:minutes:seconds) on easy mode.
I had 42 saves, 46 continues, found 47 times by the enemy, killed 162 enemies, and consumed 90 rations.
I got the codename "Comodo Dragon"
and the special items "Stealth"

I'm thinking about buying one of the earier games or more recent games in the series. I have finally opened my eyes to the genius of this series.
